What's new
What changed in each version. It is the same list the app shows you when it updates, written once and used in both places.
0.2.25
The one you download nowRecordings
Fixes PoVs that reached the Cloud uncompressed. Uploading shrinks a video to 1080p, and on machines with no hardware encoder that step failed quietly and sent the recording up untouched. A PoV recorded on an ultrawide or at 120 fps came out big enough that an iPhone could not open it, while Android and desktop played it fine.
Cloud
In the Cloud player on a phone, fixes the progress bar, which was squeezed down to nothing and could not be dragged. The volume slider now steps aside on small screens, where the phone has its own buttons.
When a PoV in the Cloud will not load, the message now says why underneath instead of leaving it at "could not load".
0.2.24
Recordings
Records the Nemesis boss in delves. Switch it on under Settings, Content. That fight and nothing else: a delve writes no start and no end to the combat log.
Updates the addon to 0.1.2, which turns combat logging on inside delves as well. On the status card, the Addon line now reads Needs /reload while the game is still running the older one.
A stopwatch next to Recording on the status card, showing how long the pull has been going.
In the recording lists, a card with no picture of its own now shows the Astro PoVs planet instead of an empty frame. And Azta'rec, the delve Nemesis, has a portrait of his own.
Fixes the outside-the-key warning, which had never once reached the screen since the day it was written.
Analysis
Hover an enemy ability and it now says what it did in that pull: how many hits, the biggest and the average. The description above it is the generic one, and in a key that number is never the real one.
Cloud
Fixes the magnifier in fullscreen, where the menu never opened.
0.2.23
Recordings
Fixes the 0.2.22 bug that stopped any recording from being saved. The cut failed as it was written and the pull was lost; Activity showed "Could not extract". Update as soon as you can: on 0.2.22 nothing is saved at all.
0.2.22
Recordings
Fixes how a key you give up on is filed. It showed up as over time, which is a run that never happened; it now says incomplete.
Stops saving the video of an abandoned key with nothing in it: no deaths, no bosses, not one event. A raid pull that goes quiet mid-fight is still saved.
Fixes boss health on fights where the boss gains maximum health between phases. A wipe deep in the last phase of The Coiled Altar read as though you had never touched him.
In the Raids list and in the Cloud, every Coiled Altar pull says which phase it ended in.
In those same lists, the Health column now says how much of the whole fight was left, with the phases you cleared counted in. The phase's own reading, and each boss's, move to the line below.
Fixes the recordings that turned up in the Unsorted section for a moment and then vanished.
In the lists, Select all becomes a button that says how many there are.
"Rebuild the metadata", in Settings, now puts right what you already have in the cloud as well. It only reached your own disk before.
Fixes the version number the app reports for itself. It had been saying 0.2.19 for three releases.
Analysis
Nearly every ability now has a description when you hover it. Five in six were coming up empty.
Fixes the abilities that sat on "Loading what it does" for good. It asks again now, and an ability that really has no description says so.
Cloud
The Cloud can show three PoVs at once. The third one takes the whole row.
In the Cloud player, switching PoV keeps the second you were on, both in the single view and when you drag a PoV into the main box.
Adds the magnifier to the Cloud player, with the same four sizes as the local one. It works on whichever PoV your pointer is over.
Matches the Cloud player's buttons to the local player's.
Fixes the blank screen you got closing the Cloud player from theatre mode or from the floating player. Leaving the player hands you the list back now.
Website
The site opens in English. If you would rather read it in Spanish, the switch is in the top right and it sticks.
Anyone who is not signed in gets two buttons in the top bar: Sign in and Create an account.
0.2.21
Recordings
Fixes the stutter when a recording is saved or a padlock is pressed. The list read every recording's details off the disk again, the whole fight meter of each one included, even though only one had changed. Measured on a library of 52 recordings: 580 milliseconds every time. It is under one now.
Deleting no longer freezes the app. Sending a recording to the recycle bin ran on the same thread that draws the window, so the app sat frozen while the disk worked, and deleting twelve froze it twelve times.
And it says so while it works: the bar counts how far it has got and the delete buttons go out until it finishes. They used to stay live, so it was easy to press delete again on something already on its way.
Adds a Recycle bin section. It shows the recordings you deleted on their usual card, picture, difficulty and boss health and all, and each one has two buttons: put it back where it was, or delete it permanently. You can pick several and do it in one go.
It is the Windows recycle bin and not one of ours: what you deleted before this version shows up too, and emptying it from the desktop empties this list with it. A video and its data travel together both ways.
The note field under the video no longer takes up half the screen. It starts small and widens when you write in it, or when you open a recording that already has one.
0.2.20
Recordings
Shows every boss's health when a fight has more than one, like The Lost Explorers, Entombed Sentinels or The Coiled Altar, with the average above them. Only the bosses of the fight count: boss-sized adds, such as the Gore Rattles beside Ula'tek, stay out of it. It used to show whichever boss you hit last, so the same wipe read as 5% or as 60%. Say yes to "redo the metadata" to get it on what you have already recorded.
Fixes the stutter when a recording is saved or the padlock is pressed. Every picture that failed to arrive redrew the whole list, and a few of those meant dozens of repaints in a row.
Stops asking you to type /combatlog when you switch characters and have the addon installed. The addon turns it on by itself when a raid or a key starts, so the warning was asking for something already done. If the log goes quiet when it matters, it still warns.
Cloud
Clips cut before the previous version can go up to the cloud too. The app rebuilds their details from the recording they came from and measures how long they run.
Adds the date to the Cloud list, under the time, with the full day when you point at it.
Fixes the video in the Cloud section, which went black when you dragged the bar back to the start after it had been open for more than half an hour.
The Cloud section shows every boss's health on several-boss fights too, the same way the recordings list does.
In the Cloud section, fullscreen now gives the screen to the video and its bar: the roster, the heading and the side column step aside. And closing the player while fullscreen no longer leaves a black screen behind.
Versions older than 0.2.10 can no longer upload to the cloud. They do not send the fight statistics, so the pull was left with a video and no Analysis for the whole guild. The app says so and offers to update.
Activity now says when the video went up but the statistics did not, and why. That failure used to show up nowhere at all.
0.2.19
Recordings
Redesigns the recording list in Raids, Mythic+, Clips and Manual. Each recording is a card now, with the name of the fight on top and its numbers underneath, instead of a table of columns. How it ended is the colored rail down the left edge: green for a kill, red for a wipe, violet for a manual recording.
Reworks the upload, lock, open folder and delete buttons on each recording. They are round now, they dim while the pointer is away from the row, and each one lights up in its own color when you point at it.
Puts a picture of the boss or the dungeon on every card, in the Raids, Mythic+, Clips and Manual lists.
Pictures in the lists show up far sooner. Each one redrew the entire list as it arrived, so fifty recordings meant fifty full repaints.
Fixes the numbers crowding the end of a Mythic+ card. Deaths, bosses, duration, time, score and rating ran into each other, and their labels were cut off mid-word.
Fixes the lists in a narrow window, where the cards fell apart and the numbers landed on top of one another.
Fixes the "Open folder" button in the Clips section, which opened the recordings folder instead of the clips one.
Fixes the manual recording button in the left panel: pressing it with World of Warcraft closed gave no warning at all. It now says on screen why it cannot start.
Analysis
Point at an ability icon in Analysis and it now tells you about the spell: name, school, cost, range, cast time and what it does. Most useful on boss abilities.
No ability is left without an icon in Analysis. One with no icon published anywhere gets a box the same size, so the list never has holes in it.
Avoidable damage no longer counts hits only the tanks took. A tank buster reaches one or two people, so counting heads alone put it at the top of every tank list.
Cloud
Adds the close button to the Cloud section, at the left of the player's bar, so you can go back to the list of pulls without leaving the section.
Puts a picture of the boss or the dungeon on the lists in the Cloud section.
Fixes the pictures in the Cloud section, where the All tab showed a raid boss that had nothing to do with the key.
Clips can go up to the cloud, where they get a Clips tab of their own. A clip remembers what fight it was cut out of, so it arrives with a name and a picture.
Fixes the name a PoV arrives under in the cloud. Logging out and back in on another character uploaded it under the old one, which then showed up as an extra person in "Who was in the pull".
0.2.18
Resolves the ability icons Blizzard's API does not publish, reading them from the game's own data. Affects spells like Stormstream Totem, Doom Winds and trinket effects, which showed no icon.
Fixes the missing icons in the damage, healing and rotation lists.
Adds each hero tree's crest and the class and specialization icons to the Talents headings, along with the points spent in each tree.
Scales the talent tree to fit the panel. The class tree ran off both sides.
Colors the name by class in the lists that carry no bar.
Adds a textured background to the talent tree cards.
Raids, Mythic+, Clips and Manual now open with no video loaded.
Fixes the addon settings block, which did not follow the app's language.
0.2.17
Fixes the "Right now / Final" switch, which disappeared from every tab after opening Gear or Talents.
Empties the buffer when the app starts. Fragments left behind by a session that died half way through stayed there for good and did not count towards the disk cap; one test machine had 56 GB of them.
0.2.16
Everybody's talents, drawn the way the game draws them. A new tab in Analysis: open somebody and their whole tree is there, what they took lit and the rest dark, the tree's own lines, and the hero branch they picked. Hover a node for the talent and what it does. It comes from what the game writes at the start of a pull, so it is everyone in the group and not just you.
And you can take anyone's build into the game. The copy button hands you the same string Wowhead and Warcraft Logs do: paste it into the game's talent window and you have their build. It is built from the game's own tables, so a node that offers two talents shows the one that person actually had, not a guess.
Playback speed in the cloud and on the site, 0.25× to 2×, the way the local player already had it. It drives all four PoVs at once and remembers what you picked.
Avoidable damage, measured against the rest of your group. Inside "Damage taken" there is a tab for what hit you and missed everyone else, with the evidence on every row: how many hits, and how many of the group it reached. A log never says an ability was avoidable, but it does say who it hit, and that is a fact.
0.2.15
Fixed: Stop did nothing to a manual recording. The button was there, you confirmed, and the app answered that nothing was being recorded. It now stops whatever is running, a pull or a manual, and still asks whether to keep it.
And a forgotten manual recording no longer runs for hours in silence. The status reads "Recording (manual)" so it cannot be taken for a key, and the app brings it up again every half hour. The Ctrl+Shift+R hotkey starts one from inside the game, which is how they get left open without anybody noticing: one ran for nearly four hours and held on to 53 GB of buffer.
Fixed: the Stop button cut the status line in half. They both fit on the row now.
0.2.14
Fixed: the microphone was held open even with the switch off. Windows saw an app recording, and a Bluetooth headset would drop into call mode: everything on the PC in mono, not just our videos. The microphone is now left alone unless you turn it on.
And a Bluetooth microphone stays off until you say otherwise. Recording one costs this whole PC its sound quality for as long as you record. A Bluetooth headset cannot carry stereo and a microphone at once. The app spots it, explains it, and leaves the choice to you.
The diagnostic report tells us more. Both audio switches with their device, what content you record, the margins, the disk cap and the state of the addon. It is what it takes to understand a problem without a round of questions.
0.2.13
A key you walk out of now closes when you walk out. The app used to go on saying "Recording" for a good while after you left the dungeon: the game takes minutes to write that walk-out into its log. It knows straight away now, the status card says "Out of the key", and the video ends exactly where you left. Step back in within 30 seconds and nothing happens; come back later and the second half gets a video of its own.
A button to stop whatever is being recorded. It sits next to the status while something is running, and pressing it asks how to keep it: as stopped, as abandoned, or not at all. It is the way out when the game never says a pull is over.
Fixed: PoVs could not be ticked one by one. Three things at once: every checkbox was drawn in the same spot, the action bar covered the rows whenever a video was open, and clicking the box itself did nothing.
Clips and Manual no longer have an Analysis tab — there was never a fight there to analyse. The width goes to the video.
On the site, the fullscreen button works from a phone. It puts the video properly fullscreen, on Android and iPhone alike.
0.2.12
Fixed: "rebuild metadata" left recordings without Analysis if you use the Raider.IO client. That client moves finished combat logs into an archive folder inside Logs, and the app never looked there. Now it does. Say yes to "rebuild metadata" and those recordings get their Analysis back.
Fixed: a piece of gear that failed to load waited 15 seconds before trying again. It now retries after 3, and only the pieces that failed.
0.2.11
The player, redesigned. The video sits on the left at a fixed size that never shrinks; Events and Analysis are tabs on the right. Theatre mode inside the window, fullscreen with the video alone, and a miniplayer for browsing the list while you watch: drag it, resize it from the corner, set its volume, double-click to bring the player back.
Gear, inside Analysis. Every player's sheet, Armory style: average item level, each piece with a tooltip like the game's (its actual stats at its own item level, enchant, gems, upgrade track) and the set with its bonuses. Say yes to "rebuild metadata" and you get it on everything you've already recorded.
Game data now comes from Blizzard. Names, icons and descriptions come from the official API, in the app's language.
Each section stands on its own. Switching sections closes the video or the cloud pull; nothing keeps playing in the background.
CurseForge and WowUp recognise the addon the app installs. If they still show it as not installed, run a scan once.
Fixed: the cloud would not open a second pull. After closing one, the next came up without a video. The cloud's theatre mode also had a black band under the video.
Fixed: the miniplayer did not pause on click, and in a small window it could end up off screen.
Fixed: in a small window the cloud's video bar got cut off. The bar now wraps, and the Events and Analysis column moves below the video.
0.2.10
Analysis: a full meter under every video. Damage, healing, damage taken, interrupts, dispels, deaths, enemies, rotation and defensives, all read from the combat log. "Right now" tracks the video to the quarter second; "Final" is the whole pull. Every bar opens up: by ability, to whom, when each tick landed, what killed you and what hit you just before, when the boss cast each ability. Ability and spec icons throughout, plus a fight graph with the deaths marked on it. Say yes to "rebuild metadata" and you get Analysis on everything you've already recorded.
The addon has an icon, options, and takes its orders from the app. A panel under Options → AddOns (or /astropovs), and the app tells it which content to log. Change something while WoW is open and the app asks you for a /reload.
A magnifier over the video. The 🔍 button opens a menu of lenses — small, medium, large and extra large — for reading a debuff, a number, or who was standing where. Scroll to zoom; Esc or the button turns it off.
Select several PoVs at once. "Select PoVs", next to "Open folder", puts checkboxes on the list, with "All" and a bar at the bottom for what you can do with your pick.
Fixed: keys you abandon, or disconnect from. Relogging halfway through a key now gives you a second video instead of losing the rest, and an abandoned key closes on its own by the clock instead of recording on.
Fixed: the cloud's timeline was not precise. A click landed on the nearest keyframe, up to two seconds away from where you pressed. Now it lands where you press.
Fixed: Esc in fullscreen with the magnifier on closed the video. It now turns the magnifier off; a second Esc leaves fullscreen. Recordings also take about a third less metadata on disk.
0.2.9
Fixed: boss health on two-boss fights. On The Coiled Altar or The Twin Fangs, the first boss drops to zero at the end of its phase and the fight goes on against the other — and the list read 0% from that moment on. Health now follows the boss you're actually fighting. Use "rebuild metadata" to fix tonight's wipes.
Locked recordings come first. The ones you marked to keep now have a zone of their own at the top of the list, in amber, instead of being scattered across the nights.
0.2.8
In the cloud, the video no longer scrolls away with the list. The open pull stays on top with a height of its own, and the list of pulls scrolls by itself underneath — just like local recordings. Browse the list while the PoV keeps playing, and drag the grab bar between them to decide how much room each one gets.
Fixed: the cloud in small windows. The video is now the last thing to shrink, not the first; a raid roster runs eight to a row, compact, with every name readable; and the Events bar no longer gets crushed when height runs short.
Fixed: the black band under the video. The picture fills its frame properly now, and the name row has a surface of its own — it no longer reads as a hole.
Fixed: the sidebar arrow is gone. It sat on top of the menu and added nothing; the bar still shows it scrolls with its always-visible thumb.
0.2.7
The /combatlog warning is now a banner across the top of the app. With WoW open and the log silent, an amber banner says so right where you're looking, and leaves on its own the moment log lines flow. It has buttons for "I turned it on" and "an addon handles it", so it never nags longer than it should.
The banner knows when you switch characters. The combat log never survives a reconnect, and the app now catches that within seconds: the warning says so in as many words, and leaves on its own the moment the log speaks again.
The cloud list shows who's there. Next to "3 PoVs" you'll now see a dot in each uploader's class color — one glance tells you whose PoV you can ask for.
"View in browser" from the cloud. One click opens the pull you're looking at on the website — handy for sharing the full view, or for picking up right where you left off.
Fullscreen stays fullscreen. The cloud's auto-refresh no longer kicks you out of the PoV you're watching.
Fixed: the cloud list is properly lined up. Numbers sit flush right and results are centered — no more columns drifting from row to row.
Fixed: manual recording no longer wears red. Recording is an action, not an error, so the button joins the blue family — red stays reserved for things that actually break, and for the delete button.
0.2.6
Share PoVs and clips straight from the app. In the cloud, every PoV carries its share button: mark the start and end with the range painted on the bar, preview the clip before the link exists, and the link copies itself. Whoever gets it can watch without an account and without being in your guild — and you can revoke it whenever you like.
Difficulty and key-level filters on every list — local, the app's cloud and the website. And Nova can now pick what goes up by how it ended: raid kills only, completed keys only, or everything as before.
Rebuilding metadata no longer unlocks anything. If you ever used "rebuild", the locks you had back then were silently lost — put them back on whatever you want to keep; from this version on they survive everything.
The combat-log warning cannot be missed anymore. The /combatlog reminder is a proper card now, and with WoW open while the log sits silent it turns amber: that is the state that loses whole nights without anyone noticing.
"Test my line" sets your upload cap for you. Five seconds against the cloud and the limit is suggested at 60% of what your line really does — so uploading PoVs never eats anyone's Discord voice again.
The cloud refreshes itself — new pulls show up without navigating — and the checks after saving and shrinking got much lighter. Abandoning a key is also detected within a minute twenty of walking out.
0.2.5
Shrinking for the cloud barely touches your processor anymore (NVIDIA). The video gets decoded, scaled and re-encoded without ever leaving the card: 17 times less CPU than before, and faster. On AMD and Intel the path stays the same, now running at low priority.
Processing videos no longer takes anything away from the game. Several of you reported lag while a PoV was being shrunk — you were right: we were running four processes at once and letting them fight the game for the machine. With WoW open, processing now takes it easy at low priority; close the game and whatever is pending finishes at full speed. And without hardware acceleration, your processor no longer pegs at 100%.
0.2.4
Walking out of a key now counts as abandoning it. WoW writes no event when you leave, so the key used to stay open as a zombie: it swallowed whatever you played next and closed with the wrong result — or never closed, and that recording was lost. Leaving now ends the run as abandoned at the moment you walked out, with a few minutes of grace in case it was just a graveyard run or a repair trip.
Kings' Rest now says "timed" or "over time" instead of a bare "kill": the timer table had the dungeon's name misspelled, and lookups now go by map id — which doesn't depend on anyone's spelling.
The combat log reminder is no longer red. A log that has been quiet for a while is what normal looks like when you're in town: it's amber now, and red is reserved for things that actually broke.
0.2.3
The app turns Advanced Combat Logging on for you. It's the WoW checkbox that puts everyone's class into the combat log — without it, the cloud can't tell who was in your group and the grid comes out grey. It ships off and nobody knows it exists: now, if yours is missing, the app says so and fixes it with one button, with WoW closed and a backup left behind.
The chat cover now ships turned on, tucked into the bottom-left corner where the chat lives. It exists so no video goes out with your group's whispers and names in plain sight, and a protection that ships off protects exactly the people who never open the settings. Turn it off and it stays off.
The skulls are back on the cloud player's bar. Deaths and bosses of a cloud pull were not marked on the timeline inside the app — the data was there, the bar was reading a field that never existed. On the website it always worked.
0.2.2
Automatic uploads no longer go quiet. Before a video goes up it gets re-encoded to take less space, and that work used to run for minutes with nothing on screen — it looked like nothing was happening until "Uploading" finally showed. The progress row now appears the moment the recording is saved, phase and percentage included, and its cancel button works right from the start.
A failed upload no longer leaves its bar stuck. The progress row goes away when the upload ends, however it ends.
0.2.1
It gets along with your own OBS. If another recorder holds the game capture — your streaming OBS, Warcraft Recorder — Astro PoVs switches to window capture by itself and records anyway, both at once. The promise as it was always meant, now without the asterisk.
Record several audio devices at once. Add extra devices or microphones in Settings — each row has its own mute and remove buttons.
No more Spanish inside the English app. Manual-recording messages, linking errors and even the generic title of unnamed manual recordings now follow the app's language — and the whole English side moved to American spelling.
If another recorder holds the capture, the app names it. Two game captures cannot hook the same WoW: when OBS, Warcraft Recorder, Streamlabs, Medal, Outplayed or Overwolf is capturing, the warning says which one and what to do, instead of failing silently.
Shortcuts no longer jam. Escape cancels the capture cleanly, pressing the already-saved shortcut works, and there is a button to remove it entirely.
"Currently in use" tells the truth. After saving a folder change, the panel shows the paths the recorder is really using, not the ones from startup.
Details that showed: the manual recording button looks like a button, the /combatlog reminder no longer reads as part of manual recording, and the overlay keeps its shape — it can no longer be squashed.
0.2.0
Nova is here: your guild's cloud. Make an account, set up your guild, and what you record goes up on its own. Open Tuesday's wipe and everyone who uploaded is there, all playing the same second of the fight. This is what the project exists for.
Signing in is one button. Use email, Discord or Google; the app opens your browser, you sign in, and your PC is linked. No codes to copy, no passwords typed into the app.
Your guild, with its space and its people. Create it, invite by username — yours is your name plus a number, like Astro#4821, so nobody has to hand out their email — make whoever you trust an admin, and the storage belongs to everyone: nobody pays per head.
You decide what goes up. One master switch, raids by difficulty, Mythic+ from whatever key level you care about, and an upload cap in Mbps so it never eats your connection mid-game. With everything off, nothing leaves your PC.
Uploads you can see. The status panel says which guild you are connected to; every upload shows its encounter, its progress and a cancel button; and recordings already up there carry an "In the cloud" badge.
Up to nine PoVs at once, locked to the same instant. Nobody presses record at the same time, so the videos are lined up with the fight rather than with the files: the same death lands at the same moment in every box. And you can drag anyone into any box.
Fullscreen that means it. The whole grid with its roster and its bar, in a mode built for watching — everything fits on the screen, no scrolling. Want just one? Double-click any PoV and it fills the screen.
What happened, listed under the video. Deaths, battle rezzes, group cooldowns and bosses, each with its minute. Click a row and every PoV jumps to that moment.
The whole pull's roster. It comes off the combat log: all thirty if there were thirty, with class and specialization, and anyone who did not upload in gray — which is exactly who to ask for their PoV.
Share a PoV with somebody outside your guild. A link that opens that video and nothing else: the whole thing or just the stretch that matters, with a note if you want one. See how many times it has been opened, and revoke it whenever you like.
In the browser too. Everything in the cloud can be watched on the site with nothing to install — for the guildmate who only wants to look, or for going over the raid from wherever you are.
Delete means delete, and the lock protects. Whatever you remove from the cloud leaves the storage for real; whatever you lock stays put, even when space runs low and the oldest pulls rotate out.
Free through the beta. Every guild has a 30-day trial with 100 GB for the whole group, and you start it when you are ready. Before anything expires you are warned — by email and in the app — and what sits on your own disk is never touched.
Keystone levels, kept. Mythic+ runs now show their level and their score; redo the metadata and the runs you already had get theirs back.
0.1.14
Settings save again. In 0.1.13, pressing Save on any screen threw an error and stored nothing — Content, Video, Storage, every one of them. If something you changed didn't stick, this was why.
You now see the specialization, not just the class. The icon is a Holy Priest's rather than a generic priest, and the name follows the language the app is in — it used to come out in Spanish whatever you picked. Recordings you already have get it too.
Astro PoVs no longer opens twice: try it and it brings the window you already had to the front. Two copies at once fought over the global shortcut and could catch the same pull twice.
0.1.13
Astro PoVs can now sit in the system tray, next to the clock. Closing the window no longer quits the app: it hides and keeps recording, so a distracted click mid-pull stops costing you the recording. It can also start with Windows. All of it lives in Settings → Application, and takes effect the moment you flip it — nothing to save.
Updating is much faster, and you can see how far along it is. The installer now comes from a CDN: the last update took five minutes, this one takes five seconds. And the button shows a percentage instead of three dots that never move.
The little help messages that show up on hover are now the app's own rather than Windows': easier to read, quicker to appear, and no longer at odds with everything around them.
The new icon actually turns up after an update. Windows keeps icons in a cache and would go on showing the old one for days.
0.1.12
Opening the app no longer leaves you looking at a blank window while OBS gets ready. A panel now covers the screen, tells you what it is doing — OBS launched, connected, encoder picked — and gets out of the way once you can record. Those messages were always there; they just used to arrive all at once, at the very end.
The recording list reads better. A kill no longer says “kill” twice — the health column shows a skull instead — and the columns stop stretching on big screens, so the numbers stay together and lined up instead of drifting apart across the row.
On the player's timeline, deaths are marked with a skull and dungeon bosses with a crown. Deaths used to be a headstone that was hard to make out at that size, and every marker now has an outline that lifts it off the progress line.
The Astro PoVs planet is now the same drawing everywhere: the sidebar, the taskbar, the installer, the image that covers your chat, and the browser tab. The chat cover also carries the website address under the name.
0.1.11
Videos show up much sooner after a pull ends. It no longer records fifteen extra seconds after every wipe or kill, and trimming got twice as fast. Measured on a real raid: from the kill to the video in the list, about thirty-five seconds down to nine.
When a pull is not recorded because that is how you have it set up, the app now says so and names the setting that decided it. It used to stay quiet, and from the outside that looked far too much like being broken.
The recording codec now picks itself. On “Automatic”, the app looks for the best hardware encoder your machine has — NVIDIA, AMD or Intel, integrated graphics included — and tells you which one it went for; if it finds none, it leaves things as they were rather than failing. Saving a setting can also no longer switch your codec, without a word, to one that records on the processor, which was what made OBS complain halfway through a recording.
Unsaved changes are now settled from the notice itself, which carries both Save and Discard. Saving from there applies every section at once, so there is no more hunting for the screen the notice names, and discarding puts things back as they were without having to remember what was there. The Save button at the end of each screen now only appears when that screen has something to save.
There is a Discord icon next to the version number, bottom left. It opens the Astro PoVs server, where every release is announced, questions get answered and bugs get reported.
Fixed two interface details: a notice that got stuck in the corner when you deleted two recordings in a row — with Windows animations turned off, every notice got stuck — and the player footer, which squeezed the title and the note past legibility in a small window.
0.1.10
Fixed a bug where a hunter's Feign Death counted as a real death. Deaths that never happened showed up, and wipes came out with more deaths than there were.
Settings → Application has a new button that reads your combat logs again and adds to the recordings you already have whatever newer versions can detect, such as group cooldowns. It offers to do it when you update. Your videos are not touched.
And on the same screen, a button to check for updates whenever you like. The app already did it on its own, but there was no way to see it.
0.1.9
The event list under each video no longer shows only deaths, battle rezzes and Bloodlust: the fourteen group-wide cooldowns are in there too. Stampeding Roar, Rallying Cry, Barrier, Tranquility, Healing Tide and nine more, each with who pressed it and at what second.
Every recording now has two buttons at the end of its row: show it in its folder, and delete it. Anything you delete goes to the Windows Recycle Bin, so you can get it back.
The notice that a video is being cut has moved to the top of the app. It used to sit inside the list, so it looked like it was announcing a video for whichever section you had open — and it was not always that one.
The button that opens the recordings folder finally looks like a button.
0.1.8
World of Warcraft is now found even if you installed it outside the usual folder, and also if you have only just installed it.
And if it still cannot be found, you can point the app at the folder yourself from Settings → Storage, with a hint about where it usually lives.
Settings can now be saved even when the recorder has not started. Previously, whatever stopped it starting also left the screen where you would fix it unusable.
0.1.7
Settings → Storage now shows how much of the cap you have used, and changes color as it fills up.
When you change the recordings folder, the app offers to bring your existing recordings along. If you leave them behind, it warns you that they will no longer be listed.
A banner at the top when settings are left unsaved, naming the screen they are on.
Each folder now explains what it holds when you hover the question mark.
0.1.6
Every piece of text reviewed, in English and Spanish.
0.1.5
Fixed a bug where a recording could start with a few seconds from another moment, or come out unplayable.
Settings → Application can generate a support report with everything needed in a single file.
The version is now shown in the sidebar and in the window title.
Older versions are still on Discord, in #announcements.
